Premier Preschools Raised Record-Breaking $773K for Children’s Charities in 2017
More than 55,000 children and their families joined together to help children nationwide
ATLANTA (January 25, 2018) – Primrose Schools®, a national high-quality early education and care provider, raised more than $773,000 for local and national children’s charities in 2017, breaking its previous record by more than $53,000. More than 350 Primrose preschools across the U.S. contributed to this effort, demonstrating the company’s mission to forge a path that leads to a brighter future for all children.
Last year, more than 55,000 preschool children and their families – in addition to Primrose National Leadership Support Team members, Franchise Owners, teachers and staff – participated in a variety of fundraising efforts throughout the year. These initiatives are part of the company’s Primrose PromiseSM corporate social responsibility program, which was founded in 2014 and represents the company’s commitment to make a difference in the lives of all children, especially those at greatest risk. All Primrose Promise giving efforts benefit children in need, and highlights from 2017 include:
- Local Fundraising: Annual Spring Fling community events held at each school raised more than $300,000 for local charities in Primrose communities, such as children’s hospitals, foster homes and more.
- Book Donations: Primrose schools across the country donated more than 54,000 books to local libraries, schools in need and children’s hospitals through annual book drives.
- Canned Food Drives: Primrose families and staff donated nearly 243,000 nonperishable food items to local food banks through annual Caring and Giving Food Drive events.
Primrose Schools also made a significant national impact last year. Highlights of national Primrose Promise efforts in 2017 include:
- National Partnership Support: Primrose Schools donated more than $448,000 in total to national partners Save the Children®, World Forum Foundation™ and ZERO TO THREE®. The funds support research, advocacy and the daily work of these charitable partners to advance quality early education, children’s health and safety, and emergency relief.
- Primrose Promise Days of Giving: Primrose schools across the country came together in July 2017 to serve more than 27 communities through 2,600 volunteer hours benefiting local charities. Highlights from individual schools include:
- Primrose School at West Carmel (Carmel, Ind.) hosted a “Touch a Truck, Touch a Life” event benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
- Primrose School of Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, N.C.) cooked and served brunch at a local Ronald McDonald House.
- Primrose School of Pflugerville at Falcon Pointe (Pflugerville, Texas) wrote letters to active, reserve and veteran military members through A Million Thanks.
- Primrose Children’s Foundation®: Primrose schools raised more than $483,000 for the Primrose Children’s Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Primrose Promise. Through collective donations from schools to the foundation, Primrose is able to make a greater impact in times of need by providing financial support to national charitable partners. This year, the top school contributors to the Primrose Children’s Foundation were Primrose School of Eagle Springs in Houston, Texas, Primrose School of Frisco West in Dallas, Texas, and Primrose School of Southwest Austin in Austin, Texas.
- Emergency Relief Support: In addition to donating more than $60,000 to Save the Children’s Hurricane Relief Fund following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, Primrose families, Franchise Owners and National Leadership Support Team members donated more than $50,000 to Primrose teachers and staff affected by the hurricanes through the Primrose Staff Emergency Assistance Fund. Additionally, more than 57 Primrose schools across the country participated in the Primrose Adopt-A-School Program to provide support and assistance to Primrose schools in Texas and Florida. Primrose volunteers also helped drive rescue boats, donated relief supplies, sent well wishes in handwritten cards, provided gift cards and more.
- Additional Volunteer Support: Members of the Primrose National Leadership Support Team volunteered for approximately 660 hours with local charities. In addition, Primrose sponsored volunteer activities at multiple national early education and franchise industry conferences, culminating in an estimated 1,300 combined hours of volunteer work.
All Primrose Promise efforts reinforce the value of giving without expecting, which is woven throughout every level of the organization and nurtured in Primrose classrooms every day.
