Atlas Lift Tech and NYU Winthrop Hospital are excited to announce groundbreaking news in the progress of safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) on the East Coast. The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) has awarded a 2.5% insurance credit to NYU Winthrop for their successful implementation of an SPHM program that keeps caregivers and patients safe.
In addition to servicing NYU Winthrop’s SPHM program, Atlas Lift Tech is expanding into three Tenet Healthcare facilities in Massachusetts. The Atlas Lift Tech programs at St. Vincent’s Hospital, MetroWest Medical Center: Leonard Morse and MetroWest Framingham Union Hospital are set to launch in the first quarter of 2018. Tenet Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading healthcare services companies, has recognized the importance of coupling fiscal responsibility with best-in-class safety practices to produce an environment that benefits patient outcomes and employee health.
In New York, NYU Winthrop is the first hospital in the state to receive the NYSIF 2.5% insurance credit. NYU Winthrop Hospitals’ care staff, mid-level management and executives are thrilled at the substantial fiscal and cultural results of the safe patient handling and mobility program.
“The biggest return on investment as a result of implementing this program is clearly the employee morale. Additionally, we’ve seen good financial results,” says Stacey Pfeffer, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development. “We’ve had a reduction in workers’ compensation expenses as it pertains to employees being injured from positioning patients. Additionally, our experience rating with our insurance carrier for workers’ comp is at an all-time low. This year we were eligible for a 2.5% credit as a result of our results.”
Atlas’ recent expansion to the East Coast also means the creation of jobs. The company’s Founder and President, Eric Race comments saying “The recent expansion of our company is obviously good for our growing organization, but is also what is good and right for human kind.” Race, a former fire fighter out of Stockton, CA makes it his mission to fight for safety in all environments across the continuum of care.
The recent partnership of Atlas and the Department of Veterans Affairs spurred the launch the National Mobility Forum. A website that allows healthcare workers, subject matter experts, researchers, clinicians, patients and their families the ability to discuss the successes and opportunities of safe patient handling and mobility.
