Participating Kumon Centers Offering 50 Percent off Registration for Reading Program from February 1-March 15
PR Newswire, Teaneck, N.J. (February 1, 2017)
As Dr. Seuss once said “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Every year at the beginning of March, children across the country kick-off National Reading Month by celebrating the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss and the many characters immortalized in children’s books across the globe.
But why wait until March to celebrate the joy of reading? Kumon, the world’s largest after-school math and reading program, is offering 50 percent off registration for its reading program at participating learning centers nationwide from February 1 – March 15.
“Developing a love for reading early is key,” says Dominique Ciccarelli, Ed.M., education specialist at Kumon North America. “Unfortunately, only 36 percent of fourth grade children are proficient readers and the research shows that many of those children will fall behind across all subjects, including math, science and social studies.”
Kumon builds the critical reading skills that help children develop a lifelong love of reading and a solid foundation for academic success. It strengthens students’ reading ability by building essential literacy components such as vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and interpretation.
The Kumon Recommended Reading List features nearly 400 works of literature. Many of these stories can be found throughout assignments in the Kumon Reading Program. Enrolled students gain an enhanced appreciation for reading as they discover countless possibilities that arise from worlds both real and imagined.
Popular Dr. Seuss Books on Kumon’s Recommended Reading List:
- Green Eggs and Ham
- Horton Hatches the Egg
- Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
The benefits of reading start with the first book a baby hears and continues into childhood and beyond. Learn how Kumon can help develop your child’s reading ability.
