Company strengthens commitment to innovation and sustainability by building its first hands-on retail experience in the heart of Silicon Valley, with a plan to roll out similar locations nationwide.
The public is invited to celebrate the grand opening in Redwood City on June 27-28.
“We selected Silicon Valley for our first retail Design Center because we wanted to place ourselves at the epicenter of daring new ideas and business models,” said Maura McCarthy, Blu Homes co-founder and vice president of market and business development. “Silicon Valley is the perfect place for Blu. From the very beginning, we’ve always been a tech company focused on disrupting the traditional homebuilding industry.” Read more about Blu as a technology company that builds homes on the Blu Homes blog.
Currently comprised of its Phase 1 design center and pod, Blu Homes will grow the Silicon Valley location into a retail destination where homebuyers can explore up to three different Blu Homes’ design models over the next twelve months.
Starting June 27th, visitors will be able to tour the Blu Homes Design Center, and its surrounding low-water landscaping, interact with Blu Homes’ team members and review samples of Blu’s fixtures and finishes. Additionally, visitors can explore Blu’s suite of powerful 3D design tools, including:
- Blu’s proprietary 3-D walkthrough, “Blu View,” which uses Oculus Rift goggles to experience in virtual reality home models that are not on the site
- Blu’s 3-D Configurator, which allows homebuyers to design their home and select fixtures and finishes while receiving real-time pricing information
- Place their home on their building site in Google Earth to check views and solar orientation
- Be one of the first to try Blu’s recently launched Modern Mini-Estate Builder, which gives users the ability to choose a Blu Home, put it on site and then add garages, decks, pods, and even additional homes to create an expansive retreat
McCarthy continued, “We envision the Design Center becoming a space where customers can get their questions answered, explore our models, and use Blu’s technology tools in a relaxed retail environment—either by appointment or by just stopping in.”
The public is invited to attend the grand opening of the Blu Homes Silicon Valley Design Center from noon to 4 pm on June 27th-28th. A special program on June 27th will include a ribbon cutting ceremony with local Silicon Valley officials and a presentation by Blu Homes CEO Bill Haney. Visitors will be able to enjoy local food trucks and music throughout the grand opening weekend.
