New Rain-X Survey Reveals Vehicle Safety Is A Top Concern Among Parents This School Year

Ninety percent of parents admit anxiety about getting their children to and from school safely

/ PR Newswire / — Whether kids and teens take the bus, ride in a carpool or drive themselves, their safety during the commute to and from school is a primary concern among parents. A new survey from Rain-X® revealed up to 94 percent of parents admit to having anxiety about someone else driving their children to school. The greatest cause for concern (93 percent) comes during times of unpredictable and inclement weather like rain, sleet or snow. In fact, in these conditions, 71 percent of parents said they would personally drive their children to school instead of relying on someone else.

For 62 percent of parents, this concern stems from nervousness over decreased visibility that the driver could experience during bad weather. Parents whose children ride the bus (52 percent), carpool with another driver (49 percent) and parents of teen drivers(32 percent) all worry that drivers and their vehicles may not be prepared for such conditions. However, more than 8 in 10 parents said their concerns would be alleviated knowing a vehicle was properly maintained with features like a water-repellent product for windshields, windows and mirrors for optimal visibility in even the worst weather conditions.

This is why Rain-X is encouraging drivers to prepare for even the most unexpected weather conditions with products designed to help them stay one step ahead of Mother Nature on the road this school year.

“At Rain-X, we know one thing for certain: weather is unpredictable. That’s why we are committed to helping drivers outsmart the elements with our entire line of Rain-X products,” said Debbie Hodson, Director of Marketing Communications for ITW Global Brands. “A product like our Rain-X 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner with Rain Repellent ensures vehicles are prepared for even the wettest weather conditions, such as rain, sleet or snow.”

In addition to keeping windshields their cleanest, Rain-X formula also repels rain, sleet and snow with its water beading technology. This technology causes water on the vehicle windshield to bead up and roll away, enhancing driving visibility in inclement conditions. With greater visibility, drivers can ensure safer rides to and from school for students, ultimately granting parents and families greater peace of mind during the school year.
