Serhat to Sing “I Didn’t Know” at the Eurovision Song Contest for San Marino with a Touch of Disco
ISTANBUL/ STOCKHOLM/ SAN MARINO, 5th May, 2016
Serhat, the Turkish born singer representing San Marino at the Eurovison Song Contest in Stockholm has planned a throwback performance to the days of disco.
“My song is a look back at the Disco Generation, with the musical and social mentality of today,” says Serhat. “We want to bring to the stage the happiness, the joy and the optimism of the disco era with our music, rhythm and choreography. We aim to make everyone in the audience and the viewers at home feel happier after our performance.”
Behind the song is a multinational team including a Turkish composer, a Greek lyricist, French backing vocalists, a Belgian arranger, an Italian manager and a German label. All these countries come together under the flag of San Marino—the oldest republic and one of the smallest countries in the world—for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Serhat, an artist fully representing Europe, will be on the Eurovision stage for the first Semi-Final on May 10th for San Marino with his song “I Didn’t Know” as the 8th contestant .
