Business4Better Launches to Transform Community Involvement & Engagement
UBM plc & Partners Announce May 2013 Conference and Expo to Address Shifting Needs of Corporate Responsibility Professionals and Nonprofit Organizations
ANAHEIM, CA – May 15, 2012 – Today UBM plc and partners announce the inaugural Business4Better (B4B) Conference and Exhibition, bringing businesses and nonprofits together to create more vibrant communities and better business results.
The two-day, non-commercial Conference and Exhibition, organized by UBM and producing partners the City of Anaheim together with the Anaheim Convention Center and the Anaheim Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau, and Freeman, will be held May 1 and 2, 2013 at the Anaheim Convention Center. For more information, visit www.business4better.org.
B4B launches at a critical time for both large and medium enterprises as they redefine their corporate responsibility (CR) initiatives. As community partnerships become a strategic imperative for corporations, business executives are realizing they must develop CR programs that encourage more active community engagement and involvement. B4B will arm executives with the knowledge, competencies and contacts to partner with nonprofits in ways that make a substantive impact on societal causes, as well as on their own business performance. A tailored B4B program for nonprofit organizations will feature insights on resource sharing and partnering, community-building best practices and professional networking.
“Business4Better aims to harness business prowess, expertise and resources in active, engaged partnerships with the nonprofit sector to benefit the communities and wider society in which business operates,” said David Levin, CEO of UBM plc, the founding partner behind Business4Better. “The concept of ‘doing good by doing what we’re good at’ is at the heart of UBM’s corporate responsibility activities and our values as a sustainable business. Business4Better puts together our employees and our business partners’ event resources to build a new path towards community engagement between nonprofits and businesses.”
B4B is designed for any business executive involved in corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, corporate giving, sustainability, community outreach or employee volunteering. The conference program will include a line-up of inspiring and thought-provoking keynotes as well as breakout sessions presenting new ways to approach community engagement, proven strategies and practical guidance on creating high impact community partnerships. The dynamic exhibition will feature nonprofit organizations showcasing their community efforts and opportunities for businesses to serve their communities. There is no cost for exhibition space or booth services for qualified nonprofit organizations.
UBM has engaged the support of many partners who share the same inspiration and values to strengthen community. These founding partners include the City of Anaheim together with the Anaheim Convention Center and the Anaheim Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau as well as Freeman, the leading provider of integrated services for face-to-face marketing events, and local nonprofit partner, OneOC, an Orange County, CA organization dedicated to accelerating nonprofit success.
“Engaging businesses and nonprofits to better our communities underscores the power of a culture built on kindness,” said Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait. “The City of Anaheim is pleased to be the host city for the inaugural Business4Better Conference and Exhibition, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will have on individuals, enterprise and society.”
"Freeman is thrilled to be a producing partner of the Business4Better Conference and Exhibition and has worked closely with UBM to develop the brand in an effort to help better envision, design and execute it for this experience", said Carrie Freeman Parsons, Vice Chair at Freeman. "More than a mere conference, Freeman views the entire Business4Better endeavor as a movement in how business and community can work more closely together for the 'Better'."
Business4Better is a part of a Responsible Business global initiative organized by UBM and its partners to make a significant difference in active community involvement. The flagship philanthropic events and conferences are also held in Brazil, India and London.
