DERBY, CONN., HOMEOWNERS SELECTED IN DIY NETWORK’S FIFTH ANNUAL SEARCH FOR AMERICA’S MOST DESPERATE LANDSCAPE
Winning Couple Receives a Major Yard Makeover and Starring Role on DIY Network Special, America’s Most Desperate Landscape, Premiering July 18 at 9 p.m. ET
NEW YORK, June 28, 2012 -- Since early March, DIY Network fans have uploaded photos and videos to DIYNetwork.com – all for the chance to be named America’s Most Desperate Landscape and receive a $25,000 yard makeover courtesy of DIY Network expert host and licensed contractor Jason Cameron and his Desperate Landscapes crew. Patty and Cas Stochmal of Derby, Conn., were selected to receive the makeover, and will appear on America’s Most Desperate Landscape, a one-hour special documenting the search and build, which premieres on DIY Network Wednesday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET.
In DIY Network’s fifth annual search for America’s Most Desperate Landscape, Cameron received viewer submissions from coast-to-coast and across the country, which took him to the Stochmal’s home, 46 miles outside of Hartford. Patty and Cas and their kids, Kevin and Lauren, are living in the house that Cas’s dad built in 1955, which looks like it hasn’t been updated since. With missing siding, a driveway that’s disappeared and a crumbling set of stairs, the desperation at the Stochmals’ home is extreme.
In the one-hour special, Jason and his team have their work cut out for them with this major two-day transformation that will include creating a retaining wall out of boulders, constructing a new driveway, pouring new concrete steps and a new walkway to the front door, building a 10'X14' screened-in porch, and adding more than 100 plants to their barren landscape. When completed, this desperate landscape becomes the envy of the neighborhood.
